With almost 75% of the world living under authoritarian rule, Tyranny Tracker is a democracy index documenting how authoritarian regimes consolidate power and where democratic resilience persists. The project was conceived to better understand the global state of freedom by making political research more accessible to journalists, policymakers, activists and the public.

The digital experience needed to make political research more accessible by clearly communicating complex political analysis and without sacrificing nuance, while remaining rigorous enough for journalists, academics, policymakers and human rights organizations.

SOLUTION
The visual language and interactive digital experience that was easy to navigate and clearly represented political systems, data and patterns of authoritarian consolidation. The system was designed to work across digital and physical environments, allowing the identity to move from the microsite into the launch experience at One World Trade Center.
